Beginnings - Storm

Storm was named long before I went to pick him, we took loads of photos at 5 weeks old and the one I had eliminated was freckled legs. When the time came to pick the puppy up I didn't think the one I'd picked had enough get up and go to cope with a pack of male cross breeds.... so changed my mind and home came freckled legs, the right decision from day one.

My ambition at first  with him was to beat a dog in competition, then to qualify for Crufts, then to get a first.  He did that all in one day at that frist Championship show. He beat dogs, got a first, and the icing on the cake he got Best Puppy.

Storm passed away peacefully in his sleep, on my bed by my side, aged eleven and a half, on 26th February 2001.

Storm (Sh Ch Gorsebank Baron Gustav JW) trained and competed at agility and obedience, as well as show. He definitely took me along, as at Crufts 1992, from Post Graduate he beat off the strong competition, including the top winning male at the time, with 30+ CCs to his name to take the Dog CC! He took it in his stride and went on to gain his title that year. How many more CCs he may have gained we'll never know, as he was involved in a car accident and then hated to travel. Can you blame him? He came back to win again in Veteran, including twice more at Crufts.

Storm was trained for obedience but I decided not to actually compete with him, but he always was an obedient dog.  He did actually compete at agility which he enjoyed and so did I but he had a disadvantage that I owned a dog who had qualified out of Starters.... he loved the jumping course so that's what we stuck to.

He was used as a dog as part of the breed seminars which he enjoyed as he loved to strut his stuff. He wasn't always handled by me but was so easy to show. At 11 years old he'd fully retired to his couch.

He had a very successful 1991 which cumulated in him taking a RCC. I was over the moon and he was his normal proud self as you can see by the photo.

Storm sired only two wonderful litters, but stock from both of these are producing on. He mated my Gorsebank Dame Greta Von Ichbin (see Foundation Bitch  page) and Ardmore Sea Breeze.
